The Integrity Casebook launch, held on November 8, 2023, was a resounding success, bringing together professionals from various sectors, students, and members of the academe to discuss and promote ethical practices and good governance. The Integrity Casebook is a compilation of case materials on ethical dilemmas based on real-life experiences, aiming to help professionals and members of the business community respond to ethical problems with above-board solutions and persistent work ethics.
The event featured distinguished speakers, insightful panel discussions, and thought-provoking case presentations. Messages from Ramon del Rosario Jr., former Integrity Initiative Chairman and current PHINMA Chairman & CEO, and Edgardo Chua, Integrity Initiative Board of Trustee, emphasized the importance of integrity and ethical behavior in business. Michael Raeuber, Chairman of Royal Cargo, Inc., delivered opening remarks, underscoring the significance of good governance and sustainable business practices rooted in law and unwavering integrity.
Mayor Benjamin Magalong of Baguio City, the founder of Mayors for Good Governance, delivered an impassioned keynote speech, championing ethical practices and unwavering transparency. His remarkable expertise and unwavering commitment to integrity left a profound and lasting impact on all attendees.
Atty. Alexander B. Cabrera, Chairman of the Integrity Initiative, Inc., provided an introduction to the Integrity Casebook, emphasizing its practical examples and the importance of overcoming ethical dilemmas without compromising integrity. He highlighted the need to nurture integrity from both home and school, ensuring that future generations understand the value of trust.
The event showcased four compelling case presentations, each preceded by a dramatization, performed by members of PwC Philippines Business Services, to provide context. These cases addressed ethical supply chain practices, the balance between shareholders and stakeholders, challenges in tax compliance, and securing permits in local government units. Atty. Cabrera and Francisco Alcuaz, Executive Director of Makati Business Club, moderated the panels.
Panel discussions for each case were led by distinguished experts in their respective fields, including Gerald Divinagracia, Undersecretary at the Anti-Red Tape Authority, Jerome Pascual, President of the Justice Reform Initiative Philippines, Atty. Cecille M. Santillan-Visto, Tax Principal at SGV & Co., Michael Raeuber, Chairman of Royal Cargo, Inc., Atty. Malou Lim, Vice Chairman and Tax Managing Partner of PwC Philippines, Suzette A. Celicious-Sy, President of Tax Management Association of the Philippines and Co-Founder of LCV Tax Law, Atty. Francis Ed Lim, Senior Legal Counsel at ACCRALAW, Atty. Marlon Manuel, Senior Advisor to the Legal Empowerment Network, Namati, Ida Tiongson, President of Opal Portfolio Investments (SPV-AMC) Inc., Rex Drilon, Vice Chairman of Institute of Solidarity in Asia, and Roderick Danao, Chairman of PwC Philippines.
